Cox's Tailored Blinds and Curtains

Cox’s is a third generation family run business manufacturing and supplying blinds and curtains to retail and commercial customers.


The Requirement

Overhaul of IT system following company restructuring.


What we found

After a failure of their email server Cox’s had already been migrated to a googlemail platform by their previous IT support company, but having had recurring problems where keen to move away from this.

Existing workstations were of various ages and conditions, some required replacement and others upgrade.

Their existing file server was obsolete, and the file structure required optimizing.


The Solution

A new scalable solution was designed centered around Microsoft’s Office 365 business system. The emails would be handled by an online exchange server and the companies files stored in Sharepoint libraries.

The obsolete server was retired, and with all data now securely held on the cloud it did not require replacement. The memory was upgraded in one existing laptop and 2 Windows 8.1 tablets were supplied to replace other workstations.

The new computers were fully configured by Halchax, including the latest Microsoft Office programs. Migration of the users content meant that everyone kept their custom dictionaries and autocompleting address books. The existing email stores were completely migrated to Cox’s new online exchange environment.

Advice and assistance in purchase and configuration of a new accounting package was also supplied, along with the configuration of Sharepoint libraries to contain all the company’s files.

All this gave Cox’s tailored blinds and curtains a quick and efficient system utilising many of the benefits of Microsoft Office 365 – including accessibility to business files anywhere. A robust backup system also means that should even the very worst of disasters hit the company their IT systems can be back up and running within hours.

Extensive training has been supplied to key member’s of the Cox’s team and Halchax continue to offer support in all aspects of the company’s IT, including configuration of further laptops, tablets and smartphones to integrate completely with Cox’s IT system.
